THE ONLY PLACE THAT REALLY MATTERS - For way too many decades now there has been much talk in comparing Los Angeles/Southern California to New York and the Tri-State area, or, depending how you look at it, comparing New York to L.A.   1. Interesting list. Some of these might not be exact equivalents, for example, CUNY's Los Angeles equivalent is actually the Los Angeles Community College District (i.e. LACC, Pierce College, LA Trade Tech, LAVC).
